Hi Everyone,
I hope you’re all well and have had a lovely start to the New Year! I’m so thrilled to be launching a brand new season of Women & Wellbeing. Season 11! I can’t believe we are now in our 6th podcast year and have just celebrated 4 Million audio downloads in 2025, the most we’ve ever had in a single year and I’m hoping that this year will be even better! As ever, you can expect in depth conversations across all aspects of women’s health & wellbeing and hopefully get to know some of our guests a bit better from what you might have seen on their socials, on TV or if you’ve read their books. We kick off on Sun 11th Jan with Specialist Nutritionist & Author Karen Newby for a candid and super informative conversation on nutrition, hormonal health and cutting through the digital noise.
With my wonderful guest Karen Newby
I really enjoyed this conversation with Karen and found it to be such an eye opener! Particularly with regards to how nutrition has such a huge impact on our brain, nervous system and sleep. We discuss the importance of magnesium for cardiovascular health and how vital it is for promoting healthy sleep. We also highlight how food can aid both peri & menopausal symptoms and how Karen’s latest book The Natural Menopause Method Cookbook acts as both a resource for managing symptoms as well as meal time inspiration. It’s such an engaging episode and so I really hope you enjoy it as much as me.

Studio Style
Now that we are back in the studio I’ll be sharing my outfits here and in keeping with previous seasons, some pieces are new and others from my existing capsule wardrobe. If you’ve followed me for a while you’ll already know that I’m a big believer in investing in pieces you can use time and time again rather than following trends. A classic capsule wardrobe with hard working staple pieces is not only good for our wallets but good for the planet too! So it’s a win win.
For the first outfit of this new season, I wore this beautiful dress from Ted Baker. It’s such a great dress that you can accessorise with heels for dinner or more formal work engagements, or pair with flats and oversized knitwear. And even better it’s currently on sale! It’s a great investment piece so get it while you can.
Away from the podcast I’ve had a bit of a tricky start to 2026 as at the end of 2025 I was diagnosed with severe anaemia and exhaustion after suffering with heart palpitations and extreme fatigue. Whilst I would normally want to keep my health issues private, I felt it was really important to share this as whilst I was beginning to feel unwell earlier in the year, I self diagnosed myself with perimenopause symptoms that were just getting worse. In doing this I let myself go for several months before finally consulting a doctor and had actually put myself at serious risk as my iron levels were dangerously low and it was putting strain on my heart. Thankfully with very swift intervention from my doctor I’m now on the road to recovery but it has been a pretty worrying time with lots of investigation and so the biggest lesson for me that I wanted to share was that, as much as I want us all to be as informed as possible about our health and wellbeing, nothing beats actually sitting down with a doctor if you are experiencing any health concerns. Even if you feel you know the answers, it really is best that they give you their diagnosis. Lesson definitely learned here!
So whilst I’ve not been too well, I’ve been prevented from strenuous exercise, even my long walks, which I’ve found particularly difficult as exercise and the outdoors has always been my peace, however i’m finally getting back out there slowly but surely and I have to say during the first few days of Jan, it was really beautiful to get out and see the sunshine. It was so crisp and fresh. I know many people find the winter hard, but I often think that’s because we put a lot of pressure on ourselves in Jan, to suddenly change everything, when in actual fact we are in the middle of a season. Spring is the time for change. Coming up in a few weeks on the podcast we have the lovely Suzy Reading, psychologist and author of Self Care for Winter and she talks all about how we should lean in to the slower pace of winter and use it as a time to nourish and heal and so with recent events that’s exactly what i’m doing. I’m reminding myself that slow and steady always wins the race.
BOOK CLUB
Finally, something new!! I’m taking on the challenge of reading a book a month and wondered if you’d like to do it with me?! Fresh from the success of All Her Fault which is now also streaming on Sky starring Sarah Snook, (a must watch if you haven’t seen it yet!) comes author Andrea Mara’s latest novel It Should Have Been You. I’ve decided to kick off January by delving straight into it and will be spending the dark nights getting cosy with this twisty thriller. Hailed as ‘unputdownable’ and Mara’s best book yet! I honestly can’t wait to get stuck in.
“Susan sends her sister a gossipy message about their neighbour. But she accidentally posts it on the neighbourhood WhatsApp group instead.
It’s an innocent mistake that could happen to anyone, but rumours quickly spread and the backlash spirals. Soon that one wrong message leads to murder.
A local woman is found dead, but when Susan listens to the news report, she realises that the victim had the same address as her but in a different part of town. The killer may have got the wrong victim - they may be coming for her next.”
The novel has had so much praise and 5 star reviews across the board. I’ll be posting my own thoughts at the end of Jan, but would love to hear yours if you’re reading it too. Consider this our ‘unofficial’ Book Club! And if you have any other recommendations for next months read please do let me know in the comments.
Anyway, enough of my ramblings!
I hope you have a great week & happy listening!
