Past, Presents and Podcasts

Hello All!

I hope you’ve all had a lovely November. We started with a bang with bonfire night (although to be honest i’m not the biggest lover of it…I don’t like how upset the animals get and it’s often wet and damp) and are finishing up with a touch of Christmas magic, freezing temperatures and snow! Perfect for the holiday season of December. I honestly can’t believe what a rollercoaster this year has been. In some ways it seems to have gone so fast and with news of a new Covid variant a bit like we’ve been stuck in a time warp and in others it seems to have been very long and drawn out. I’m most definitely ready for a bit of down time to rest, recuperate and reflect.

If there’s one thing i’ve learnt this year it’s to embrace the Ying and Yang of life. You’ll have good days and you’ll have bad days but how you remain consistent during those days is what is truly the measure of your life. Can you find a middle ground that keeps you centred. I’ve had some wonderful highs and some nerve wracking lows throughout the year and it would have been easy to get caught up in either, however with the constant shifting of the goal posts over the last 12 months i’ve really had to dig deep and figure out what are my constants. So i have a bad day one day and i don’t get the results or outcomes i want…does that mean that negativity should fall into the following week or month? No. I’ve had to really learn to let fate take it’s course, accept what has happened and be robust enough to quickly get back on track or re-route without it destroying my best laid plans and efforts. This is so hard if you’re a perfectionist (like me) and you’re driven by getting top marks. You have to accept that sometimes life throws you a curveball, you won’t get what you want and you have to adapt. However with a new direction comes new opportunities. I’ve spoken to many brilliant therapists and coaches throughout the year who’ve all had golden nuggets of expert insight to share and i’ve really listened and tried to build a solid framework around me with the tools i’ve been given. All of that knowledge is there for you too in the form of our podcasts and instagram live chats which can all be revisited if you’re in need of a helping hand.

Speaking of the podcast I can not believe that we have just finished off another series of #inconversation. 62 episodes and 5 series down we’ve covered an awful lot since those first episodes back in Nov 2019. I’m so thrilled with how the podcast has grown and so thankful to the wonderful guests who’ve so generously given their time. To round off this current season I got to spend an hour with the fabulous Denise Van Outen as we chatted making the transition from keeping up with the boys in the 90’s to owning our power in the 2020’s. It’s such a wonderfully inspiring episode as Denise brings the warm hearted, refreshingly honest chat we know and love her for as she talks in depth about the highs and lows of her illustrious career and life in the spotlight. I loved this episode and I hope you do too.

I hope you’ve enjoyed all of the podcast chats this year and I hope to be bringing you lots more in 2022. I also hope to be bringing you more live events! Im so excited to be hosting our first event since the pandemic began next month in Leeds. It promises to be a night of fun, festive styling and shopping! Check out all of the details here!

Well i’ll leave you for now and will be back in the final days of the year as we all start to look towards what 2022 holds. For now though have a wonderful start to the Christmas period and remember that in and amongst all of the madness, you deserve a moment that’s just for you. Be mindful and make sure you take it.

Look after yourself!

Episode 12 - Denise Van Outen

In the final episode of this series of #inconversation Natalie chats with actress & presenter Denise Van Outen all about the 90’s rise in girl power and how that has now translated into women power as the original ladettes pave the way for women still being visible past 40. They also discuss how after Denise’s own self diagnosis of ADHD, conditions such as autism and ADHD should be dealt with differently in the school system and how individuals can harness the strengths and unique skill sets of these conditions rather than be made to feel like they are at a disadvantage. Denise also shares what we can expect from her new autobiography ‘A Bit Of Me’ and the reasons she chose to delay its publications so that she could add new chapters and she takes us down memory lane with anecdotes from across her illustrious career.
